Bali

The enchanting island in the Indian Ocean

Halfway between Thailand and the Philippines—and just 3,000 km further south—lies the green, exotic island of Bali. Bali is one of the places in the world with the greatest variety of marine life.

Here you can experience more than 4,000 different species in the sea. Among them are sea turtles, dragonfish, stingrays, sunfish, anemonefish, squid, barracudas, and countless other exciting sea creatures.

With a length of approximately 150 km and a width of 110 km, Bali is slightly smaller than Zealand, and its population of just over 4 million is spread across the island, with approximately 25% concentrated around the capital city of Denpasar.

Bali is characterized by its tropical climate, which offers an average temperature of around 27 degrees Celsius all year round, and a water temperature that matches this.

The island is known for its rich and distinctive culture, which has its roots in Hinduism and influences both large and small aspects of everyday life and festive occasions.

The Balinese are very open, smiling, and tolerant people, and there is always someone willing to help you find your way or just give you a warm smile as you pass by.

The journey from Denmark to Bali

The journey to Bali is part of the experience. From Copenhagen Airport, the trip takes around 18–20 hours in total, including a single stopover along the way. The total flight time is approximately 15.5 hours, and from Billund it takes just a little longer – but the reward awaits at the other end.

When you arrive at Denpasar Airport, our private driver will be ready to welcome you and drive you safely to your destination. The trip to the resort takes just under three hours, and you can of course arrange to make a short stop along the way to stretch your legs, get some refreshments, or enjoy your first glimpse of the Balinese landscape.

Starting your journey in Ubud, the drive takes only about an hour and a half—through lush rice fields, small villages, and green mountains that slowly lead you to a stay filled with tranquility, warmth, and Balinese hospitality.

We use several different airlines—always choosing the one that best suits you and your family.

Here you live

During your vacation, you will stay at a fantastic little Danish-owned resort that has won several awards for its comprehensive, ecological, and sustainable construction and its holistic approach. It is a place that invites peace and contemplation—where you automatically slow down and find your own easy-going rhythm.

At the resort's restaurant, you can enjoy delicious food, freshly made drinks, shakes, and other small temptations all day long—everything made from scratch with love and care. And you can taste it—it's fantastic!

When the sun is high, you can take a dip in the beautiful infinity pool, play a round of putter golf or petanque, challenge each other to darts or pool, or just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. And when the sea calls, a world awaits beneath the surface with colorful fish, sea turtles, and world-class coral – perfect for snorkeling or diving.

Depending on the size of your family and your preferences, you can choose between a spacious Junior Villa with a large terrace and views of the sea and pool (for 4–5 people), or a Deluxe Room with a cozy terrace in an open garden setting (for 2–3 people).

No matter where you stay, everything is close by. The restaurant, pool, and ocean are just a few steps away, so you can easily go from idea to action—whether it's a dip, a game, a drink, or a walk in the clear water.

If you are staying in Ubud, we have several lovely places we can warmly recommend – all with fantastic service, atmosphere, and pools. Please contact us, and we will help you find the perfect place.

Diving in Bali

Diving in Bali – especially in the area around the resort – offers some of the most amazing underwater experiences imaginable. Here you will find colorful corals, fish in every conceivable shade, and a rich, varied marine life that makes every dive unique. In many places, you can explore enormous coral walls where life unfolds in a myriad of movement and colors.

In the immediate vicinity of the resort lies a string of exciting diving sites – including a world-famous wreck from World War II and another, more recent wreck. In addition, there are several man-made reefs where nature has taken over and transformed the structures – whether it be a pyramid, a ship, or a bicycle – into living oases filled with corals and fish. It is fascinating to see how life bubbles up everywhere below the surface.

The vast majority of dives can be done directly from the beach and close to the resort, so transport time is minimal. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced diver, you will find plenty of exciting opportunities: dives range from 0 to 30 meters deep, and the underwater life is impressive regardless of your level.

The instructors are experienced and skilled, and if you want to obtain a diving certificate, the lessons can be conducted partly in Danish or entirely in English – whichever suits you best.

If you prefer snorkeling to diving, the area is also ideal for that. Even in shallow water, you will find a wealth of corals and colorful fish, so you can have great experiences without diving deep. And if you feel like taking your snorkeling to the next level, we also offer a snorkeling course in Bali – a fun and educational way to become even more familiar with life below the surface.

Please ask us if you are curious about trying your hand at diving or snorkeling—we are happy to help you find what suits you best.

Other activities in Bali

Although diving is a big part of the experience, there is also plenty of time to enjoy everything else Bali has to offer. At the resort, you can relax by the swimming pool or enjoy darts, petanque, pool, bobsledding, and several other games, which can be borrowed free of charge.

If you enjoy golf, you can try your hand at one of the four exotic golf courses the island has to offer. And if you just want to keep your putting skills sharp, the resort has its own 6-hole putting green where you can practice—or just have fun in the sun.

You can also enjoy the resort's cozy garden pond with koi fish, waterfalls, and a small temple. We spent many hours in Bali enjoying the unique culture, the scents and sounds of the rainforest, or "just" sitting by the sea and listening to the waves while enjoying a drink, doing a crossword puzzle, or reading a book.

You can also book a massage or a family yoga class at the resort – both are highly recommended, and yoga with the family in particular provides an experience that will be remembered long after the vacation is over.

If you prefer more structured activities, you can also learn how to fold a beautiful canang with flowers, which the locals use in their temples, or perhaps you would like to learn how to make Balinese dishes and cakes, which is also an option.

We are happy to help you arrange trips or activities.

  • Les Waterfall is a wonderful place to visit. After a short drive, you buy a ticket and walk the last stretch up to the waterfall. The walk takes about 30 minutes and follows a nice path through the rainforest, where there are water channels, cliffs, huge trees and bamboo, and, last but not least, exotic animal sounds from the jungle. The waterfall itself is about 30 meters high and, depending on the season, you can dip your toes or take a dip in the cool water. A wonderful and exotic experience.

  • The former royal water palace was originally built in 1946 and consists of several water basins filled with holy water and huge fish that you can feed with fish food, which you can buy at the palace. There are several statues and figures as well as temples, and the entire area is very well maintained and impressive to experience. A very lush and picturesque area that invites you to take lots of pictures.

  • Rice fields and views of green areas with small waterfalls and well-tended flower beds - these are the hallmarks of Maha Gangga. Maha Gangga was established as a well-maintained nature area in 2020, in the middle of a valley surrounded by rice fields and running water – a breathtaking area whose nature and paths invite you to take pictures of each other and the beautiful surroundings. Beautiful bridges and paths have been built through the area, and the surrounding mountains of Lempuyang and Agung create a beautiful backdrop for the landscaped beds and rice terraces. It is also possible to purchase a swing ride on one of the swings that swing over rice fields or jungle.

  • If you want a temple experience out of the ordinary, it is worth visiting the Besakih temple complex located on the western slope of Mount Agung.

The temple is the largest, holiest, and most important in Balinese Hinduism. It consists of no less than 23 interconnected temples built on several levels up the mountainside.

  • Enjoy a pleasant and exotic visit to a local coffee and tea producer. When you visit their plantation, you will be taken on a tour to see the different plants from which they harvest fruits, roots, and berries to make their coffee, tea, and cocoa varieties. On the short tour, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, or you can order a tasting of several different varieties to find your favorite. The tour ends in the plantation's small shop, where you can buy some of what you have tasted, or perhaps something else from their selection.

  • Perhaps not for every family, but if you feel up to it, you can hike to the top of Mount Batur to enjoy the view and the landscape—and if you are an early riser or night owl, you can watch the sun rise. The trek takes about 3-4 hours.
