South of Sicily and north of Africa lies the small yellow rocky island of Gozo, which belongs to Malta.
Gozo can best be described as Malta's Bornholm.
Gozo is considered one of the absolute best diving destinations in Europe and the world. The soft yellow sandstone shapes the landscape of Gozo, with olive groves and palm trees, surrounded by the clear azure blue Mediterranean Sea.
The island has 30,000 inhabitants and is 15 km long and 7 km wide. Gozo is beautiful and fertile, and when you eat at restaurants, the food is usually made from local ingredients such as sun-ripened tomatoes, flavorful olives, and freshly caught fish. The food can best be described as a mix of Italian and Arabic cuisine. Whether you are into local dishes, international cuisine or even world-class gourmet food, you will find it on Gozo.
The journey from Denmark to Gozo
It takes just over three hours to fly to Malta, followed by a 1½-hour journey by car with a private driver and ferry to Gozo.
There are departures from both Copenhagen and Billund. Some departures may have one stopover, typically in Frankfurt or Munich, and the flight takes a total of 5-6 hours.

Many of the accommodations we offer are located around one of Gozo's charming fishing villages, where the diving center is also located. The village has a pier, a small beach, and a wonderfully relaxed holiday atmosphere.
There is life here, but in a quiet and peaceful way. The locals often take a refreshing dip in the bay, where they lie in small groups in the water and chat. On the quay, people gather between fishing nets and mopeds to play bingo, while children and young people practice water polo. Fishing boats chug in and out of the harbor, and on weekends a few yachts drop by.
The city offers a wide selection of cafés, restaurants, and well-stocked supermarkets.

Diving in Gozo
Gozo is one of Europe's absolute best places to dive – in fact, this beautiful Mediterranean island is often voted one of the best diving spots in the world. The water is warm almost all year round and offers impressive visibility. Beneath the surface of the sea, a wealth of experiences await: fantastic rocky landscapes with caves, lagoons, and coral-covered walls, as well as a rich wildlife with giant tuna, barracudas, octopuses, and dense schools of fish – and, if you're lucky, graceful seahorses.
Gozo offers a wealth of diving sites with exciting experiences for both children and adults – whether you are beginners or experienced divers. The island is small, and regardless of wind and weather conditions, there is always a place to dive. If it is windy on one side of the island, there is usually shelter on the other, and it takes no more than 20 minutes to drive across.
Many of the dives can also be done directly from the coast. This means that you don't have to spend time sailing out, but can quickly and easily get into the water and start your dive – a big advantage, especially for families who dive together.
We have dived many times in Gozo ourselves, and our three children have obtained their diving certificates here. Of course, you won't be diving every day of your vacation – so there will also be time to experience other things besides life beneath the sea. We ourselves spent many hours on Gozo simply walking around and enjoying nature or the atmosphere in the towns and by the water.
The island offers excellent shopping opportunities and a wide range of activities: you can rent bicycles, Segways, kayaks, or pedal boats. If you are adventurous, we can also arrange a boat trip with a private captain and boat to some of Gozo's "secret" beaches and caves – an experience that is very popular among our travelers.

Victoria is a beautiful city with charming little squares, churches, narrow winding streets, and many restaurants. In the middle of the streets, you will find the beautiful St. George's Basilica, which is located on a charming square with many restaurants. In the middle of the city stands the large sand-colored citadel, towering high above the city. The citadel, which is a huge castle, was built in the Middle Ages as a defense against pirates and Turks who plundered the city. From the citadel, you have a fantastic view of the city streets, sand-colored houses, beautiful landscape, and crystal blue water.

Xwejni's salt pans consist of large squares carved directly into the cliffs facing the sea. When the waves wash in, the squares fill with salt water, which then slowly evaporates in the hot sun. Finally, the chalk-white salt is swept together – a beautiful sight as it glitters in piles and shines in the sunlight.
The salt is produced by a family business that has been operating here for many generations – and it tastes simply wonderful.

If you want to experience Valletta, Malta's charming capital, you can take the ferry, which sails directly to Valletta's harbor in just 45 minutes.
From here, it is a short walk to Republic Street, the main street that forms the heart of the city. The street is bustling with shops, cafes, and historic buildings, and it is the perfect place to stroll, shop, and soak up the atmosphere of the city.
